Frequently Asked Questions About Counseling Services

Getting started

Who do you work with?

We see kids (ages 5 and up), teens, and adults. A lot of our work centers on ADHD and autism (including adults identified later in life), burnout, anxiety, perfectionism and people pleasing, divorce and life transitions, religious trauma, and performance pressure. We also support people working through depression, stress, grief, self-esteem struggles, and complicated family relationships.

How do I get started?

Schedule a free 15-minute consultation call with our team at unbridledlkn.com/letschat. It gives us a chance to connect, answer your questions, and make sure we’re a good fit.

What should I expect in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what brings you in, your goals, and what you hope to get out of therapy. You don’t need to have anything figured out (that’s what we’ll work on together).

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. We offer in-person sessions at our Mooresville office and secure virtual sessions for clients anywhere in North Carolina.

Insurance and fees

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We’re in network with BCBS, Aetna, and MedCost, and we accept the NC State Health Plan. We also offer private pay and superbills if you’d rather not use insurance. Not sure whether your plan is covered? We’re happy to help you check.

What is your session fee?

Our session rate depends on the clinician and the service. Email hello@unbridledlkn.com and we’ll walk you through it (and let you know if any reduced rate spots are open).

What sessions look like

How long are sessions?

Most sessions are 50 to 53 minutes. Occasionally a session may run a little shorter or go past the hour.

How often will I need to come to therapy?

Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency. Over time, we may move to every other week as you make progress. Frequency always depends on your needs and goals.

How do I know if therapy is working?

You may notice small shifts first, like feeling less “stuck,” having more tools to handle stress, or catching negative thought patterns sooner. Progress can look like more self-confidence, healthier boundaries, or feeling more at peace with what life throws at you.
