How do I know what my plan will cover?
The easiest way is to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your outpatient behavioral health benefits, including your deductible and copay. We also verify your benefits before your first session so there are no surprises.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
Most plans don’t require one for outpatient therapy, but a few do. We’ll let you know if yours is one of them when we check your benefits.
Does insurance cover therapy for my child?
Yes. If your child is covered under your plan, their therapy is typically covered the same way yours would be. We see kids starting at age 5.
Is online therapy covered?
In most cases, yes. BCBSNC, Aetna, and MedCost generally cover telehealth sessions the same way they cover in-person sessions, as long as you’re physically located in North Carolina during the session.
